MONTHLY DISCIPLESHIP NUGGET
by Pastor Ron Ballard
One of the most important things you can teach or train your disciple to do is to have a personal quiet time alone with God.
In Him we live, move and have our being.
The gospel singer Larnelle Harris sang, “I Missed My Time With You.”
David said, “O God, you are my God; early will I seek you; my soul thirsts for you in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. So I have looked for you in the sanctuary, to see your power and glory.”
David discovered that God’s kindness is better than life and he clings to God. (Psa. 63:1-8)
As a result of teaching your disciple how to spend time alone with God he will come to the conclusion (like David) that God’s loving kindness is better than life, will Praise God, be satisfied in Him, and will cling to Him. It will also prompt commitment to God!
I can recall a young soldier who was assigned to me by my discipler to teach and train me how to have a quiet time. The young soldier would walk to my company every morning at 5:00 am and begin to teach and show me how to have a quiet time until I began to make it a part of my daily walk with God. This has been a daily part of my life for over 49 years, and a great contribution to my walk with God.
I challenge you today to begin having a daily quiet time with God! At this time you will begin to understand what Jeremiah meant when he said, “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion says my soul, therefore I will hope in Him.” Lamentations 3:22-24.
Resources are available both written material and a capable team from Pastor Legacy Ministries to help you begin your adventure of having a daily quiet time with God.
